SS80 lower arrived yesterday. I finished my SS80 lower today. Did all the work with the JIG last night. Yes the screws are too short. The screws are standard 10-32 screws. I used aircraft AN3-6A bolts in place of the screws that I had in my shop. That is a 3/4″ long 10-32 bolt. I put the bolt in where the nut would normally go then used a nut driver on the nut on the side that the screw head would have been. IF you need to go out and buy screws, your big box lumber stores have 1″ long 10-32 screws that will work perfect for around $1. 3/4″ worked for me but just worked. There were not any threads extending through the nuts.
Having built a Polymer80, I knew to check slide fit to the lower rails. Install front and rear rails / locking block WITHOUT the extra parts so that the slide only can be test fit. There was some rubbing at the front of the lower where the recoil spring mates to the slide. Back to the shop to remove a little more material with the Dremel, file, and some 320 grit wet or dry paper at the front where the bulkhead was removed. After 5 or 6 repeats, slide functioned without rubbing.
Complete assembly was “DRY” function test and “Safety” Test. Results were PASS but there is some roughness in the Slide to Rail interface. Will do some polishing on the rails tomorrow. May do a LIVE FIRE test at the local range first but I can feel that some polishing is necessary. My GlockStore slide assembly has not arrived yet. Since I own a Glock 43, I was able to take the slide assembly off of it for the test. I like the way the SS80 feels in my hand better than I do with my Glock 43.
